Thanks to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl’s new Kirchenkarbahn II 10-seater gondola lift, the existing cable car will be extended, opening up new ski slopes and a new freeride area. Starting this winter 2018/19 season, the monocable gondola lift on the new Kirchenkogl route will take you to a new upper terminus at 2,839m above sea level. The Kirchenkarbahn II moves at 5m per second, which means that traveling the 664 vertical metres from the lower terminus at 2,175m above sea level takes around 9 minutes.
