At 2,175m above sea level, this is Europe’s highest-altitude motorbike museum and an active holiday must-see in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. A magnet for fans of classic bikes, this unique collection of historic motorcycles never fails to impress. From A for AJS to Z for Zündapp, all the major motorcycle makes of the last 100 years are represented. A 3,000sqm area houses 270 classic bikes by around 110 manufacturers as well as rare cars. Even if you’re not an out-and-out fan of motorcycles this is a must-see on your active holiday in the Ötztal Valley. Love architecture? The museum is for you too: a futuristic architectural statement set within the incomparable Top Mountain Crosspoint, completed in 2015/2016.

Aesthetically pleasing, this brilliant concept encompasses a panoramic restaurant and terrace, indoor and outdoor chill zone, toll station, lower terminus for the Kirchenkarbahn cable car, passing point between North and South Tyrol, meeting point between the Hochgurgl ski resort and the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. And it’s a museum for motorbikes too! This is multifunctionality at its best on 6,060sqm. With its acres of glass and wood plus a touch of steel, its only decoration the views of the Ötztal Alps, the curved building impressively integrates into the landscape. Even the most unrelenting piste freaks enjoy stopping for a break at the Top Mountain Crosspoint.

Vintage snow grooming vehicles

If, in addition to enjoying a Tyrolean Marend, a pizza or Aperol Spritz, you fancy taking a look at vintage snow vehicles, Top Mountain Crosspoint is happy to oblige. The motorcycle museum stages special exhibitions – currently it’s the turn of historic snow grooming machines. Admire old piste equipment and Ski-Doos from Austria and around the world – the oldest vehicle dates back to 1947. Take a break and experience everything at Top Mountain Crosspoint.
